Abstract
The study investigated principals’ leadership styles and mathematics teachers’ job performance in secondary schools in Akwa Ibom State. The study utilized descriptive survey design. The population of the study consists of 360 teachers in secondary schools in Abak Local Government Area. Stratified random sampling technique was used in selecting the sample. Three research
questions and three hypotheses were formulated and tested to guide the study. The instruments of the study were the principal leadership style questionnaire (PLSQ) and Mathematics Teachers Job Performance Questionnaire (MTJPQ). In analyzing the data descriptive statistics were used to answer the research questions while Pearson product moment correlation coefficient and t-test were used to test the hypotheses at 0.5 level of significance. The result showed that the most preferred principals’ leadership style in secondary schools in Abak Local Government of Akwa Ibom State is democratic leadership style.
