NIGERIA UNFAVORABLE ECONOMIC ENVIRONMENT ANDPRODUCTION OF UNHYGIENIC WATER IN ABIA ANDRIVERS STATE

Abstract
The study investigated the relationship between harsh economic environment and production of unhygienic water in Abia and Rivers States. The study adopted the survey research design. Data were obtained from both primary and secondary sources. The Cronbach Alpha statistics was used to obtain a value of 0.83 as the instrument reliability score. Data analysis was by descriptive statistics and correlation analysis. The analysis was enabled by the use of SPSS version 21. The results showed that high interest rate influenced output quality; high interest rate influenced input quality; taxation influenced output quality and taxation influenced input quality. It was concluded that Nigerian harsh economic environment influenced the production of unhygienic water in Abia and Rivers States. The study recommends that the Central Bank of Nigeria should make interest rates to be
single digit. Also, government should make it possible for double taxation to be avoided in Nigeria.
