Abstract
The insecurity challenges bedeviling the country over the years has taken a critical dimension of late. These conflicts are as a result of the disagreement between some socio/political and economic groups in various parts of the country. Recently, the activities of Herdsmen have constituted a major threat to our environment and the people living in it. The dangerous weapons used by these marauding herdsmen in attacking the farmers had resulted in the loss of lives, properties, resources, infrastructure as well as the enormous damage that will be done to the environment. This paper examines the ways which herders’ conflicts can be eradicated for the peaceful coexistence of the people and the environment. documentary method was used for data collection and analysis. The social conflict theory was adopted as a framework of the study. The paper strongly recommended that government should be proactive in prohibiting and enforcing the use of sophisticated fire arms by the herdsmen. Also, that all herders should be issued with identity cards for proper documentation.
